Donation of Artifacts

The Lucy Burns Museum (LBM) a Project of the Workhouse Arts Foundation thanks you for your interest in donating your artifacts. The Lucy Burns Museum’s mission is to collect, preserve, and exhibit objects of interest to the history of the Occoquan/Lorton Workhouse/Prison. To accomplish this goal, the LBM acquires a wide variety of artifacts and historic materials for use in exhibits, as reference materials, and to assist in conducting original research. The LBM follows the ethical guidelines for acquiring artifacts established by the American Alliance of Museums (AAM) and reviews every donation offer to determine whether it meets collection needs and falls within the Museum’s mission.
