Background: Phoebe received her BA from Middlebury College where she was a Fine Arts major, and studied graphic design at the School of Visual Arts. She has studied oil painting with renown artists Danni Dawson, Robert Liberace and Diane Tesler. Phoebe is a professional artist working and teaching at the Workhouse Arts Center in Lorton, Virginia.
Influences: Phoebe enjoys looking at art as much as she enjoys creating it, and can often be found immersed in a favorite art book. She is particularly inspired by the work of Richard Diebenkorn, Wayne Thiebaud, Larry Rivers, and Joaquin Sorolla.
Artist Philosophy: “I paint because I cherish the creative process. I enjoy observing the effects of light, the nuances between colors, and the abstraction of shapes in the world around me. Having grown up near the water in Massachusetts, the colors and serenity of coastal New England are often reflected in my paintings.”
