Classes/Workshops

The mission of the Workhouse Arts Center is to enrich the lives of all within its reach by creating a vibrant cultural community that fosters a diverse offering of arts, education, social and entertainment experiences for people of all ages. In keeping with its mission, the Workhouse offers an exciting array of classes and workshops for artists at all levels. Course offerings reflect the Workhouse's commitment to both the visual and performing arts. Students will have the opportunity to learn from instructors who are experts in their craft and to interact with and gain inspiration from other artists.

Spring/Summer Course Offerings

Winter classes and workshops are from January 10, 2010 through March 14, 2010.  The Spring quarter begins Monday March 29, 2010 through Sunday May 30, 2010 and Summer classes are from Monday June 21, 2010 through Sunday August 22, 2010.   Registration for Spring and Summer will begin on Monday February 15, 2010 and is available on-line, by phone, fax, and mail.  Classes will be offered in art basics, ceramics, fiber arts, glass, The Art of Movement, performing arts, oil and acrylic, watercolor, creative writing, photography and more. Open Studio Time

Ceramics
Open studio time is available to students enrolled in ceramics classes at the Workhouse. The cost is $3 per hour or $26 for a 10 hour pass. Your instructor will provide details about scheduling open studio time during your first class meeting. The Torchworkers Club

Glass
Join the Torchworkers Club and work side by side with your friends and classmates under the guidance of glasshouse staff. This open studio is designed to allow students and experienced glass workers that don't have their own studio to practice, trade ideas, and create in a relaxed, social atmosphere. Club members should have a basic knowledge of flameworking or bead making and be able to work independently.

The Torchworkers Club meets on Thursdays from 6:30 p.m. - 9:30 p.m. The fee for studio time is $10 per hour or a 10 hour pass may be purchased for $80. Time must be used in one hour increments at your convenience based upon availability. Reservations are suggested. Supplies are available for purchase or you may bring your own. Open Drawing Class

Life Drawing
Drop In And Draw! You will get three hours of drawing from a live model for a low-low-price. The poses range from 1 minute gestures to a long pose running roughly an hour each week with the same model for four weeks. Most media welcome. Nude models will be utilized in this class.


This drop-in class is conducted in W-6 on Thursdays from 7pm - 10pm and on Fridays from 1pm-4pm. The fee for members and students with their ID is $10.
