Call for Entry: Fiber National 2018

The Workhouse Arts Center is pleased to announce the Call for Entries for the 2nd Biennial Fiber National Exhibition.
The active link is currently available at http://www.workhouseartscallforentry.com/. Fiber National showcases the best in contemporary fiber art from around the United States. All artists who use fiber or fiber techniques in their art are invited to apply. Exhibition dates are June 1 – July 29, 2018. The entry deadline is April 1, 2018 and awards will be presented during the opening reception on June 9, 2018. Please contact firstname.lastname@example.org with any questions or concerns.
Fiber National showcases the best in contemporary fiber art from around the United States. The second biennial of the exhibition will highlight exciting, innovative artwork utilizing both traditional and non-traditional techniques. All artists that incorporate fiber and/or fiber techniques in their artwork are invited to apply.
The exhibition is open to all artists 18 years and older. All work must be either primarily made of fiber or use fiber techniques. The works must be an original design and execution. Mixed media artworks will be accepted at the discretion of the Juror and only if fiber or fiber techniques are the main components. The size is limited to artwork that fits through a standard door. Floor works must be firmly stable. Three-dimensional artwork for pedestals must fit on a 24”x24” pedestal. Large scale installations must be installed by the artist. Wall works must be sent with all materials / fixtures and instructions necessary to hang them (I.e. rods for wall hangings). Works must have been completed since January 2016. All works must be for sale and the Workhouse Arts Center will retain a 40% commission. The Workhouse Arts Center can only accept entries for artworks sent from and returned to the 50 United States and the District of Columbia.
The entry fee is $30.00 for up to three entries. Selections will be made based on images submitted on the entry form. No substitutions will be allowed.
Juror – Rebecca A. T. Stevens
Rebecca A. T. Stevens was the Consulting Curator, Contemporary Textiles at the Textile Museum (now George Washington University Museum – The Textile Museum) in Washington, D.C. for more than three decades. She organized numerous exhibitions of contemporary fiber art, including a retrospective of the work of textile art pioneer Ed Rossbach, “Technology as a Catalyst: Fiber Artists on the Cutting Edge”, “RED”, “Green: the Color and the Cause” and “Stories of Migration: Contemporary Artists Interpret Diaspora”. Rebecca serves as a juror for major textile art exhibitions in this country, including Fiber Art International, Quilt National and the Smithsonian Women’s Committee Craft Show. Internationally, she served as a juror in Budapest, Hungary. Stevens writes about and has presented lectures on contemporary textile art to audiences on five continents.
