In celebration of Juneteenth, O&B Productions, LLC is proud to again partner with Project1VOICE to present a staged reading of Lynn Nottage’s Crumbs from the Table of Joy. Each year, on the third Monday in June, Project1VOICE presents an international event: One Play/One Day.

In Crumbs from the Table of Joy, 17-year-old Ernestine indulges in Hollywood-fueled fantasies, as she survives the less glamorous reality of life in a troubled African-American family in Brooklyn in 1950. The play explores themes of: grief and loss, displacement and coming of age in the midst of the social/racial/political and religious changes of America in the 1950s. Crumbs from the Table of Joy, was written by two-time Pulitzer Prize-winning playwright Lynn Nottage (Sweat, Ruined). In 2019, Nottage was named a Pioneer on Time magazine’s annual 100 Most Influential People of 2019.
