An event every week that begins at 4:00 pm on Sunday, repeating until August 18, 2019
Come dance like you’re in Pride and Prejudice! We are excited to invite the Rockledge Assembly of Dancers, led by Diane V., to teach and dance with us this summer! No partner required but feel free to bring friends, loved ones, and little ones along with you! Costumes are optional. This four week series will teach you basic elements and dances so you can feel transported to your very own ball!
What is English Country Dance (ECD)?
ECD has been enjoyed by communities from courts to country folk since the Middle Ages. It was danced by our nation’s founders, including George Washington, and is often featured in TV and movies such as “Turn: Washington’s Spies” and Jane Austen’s “Pride and Prejudice”. It is a group form of dancing (specific partners not required) where participants danced steps called by a caller, similar to square dancing, but slower and more elegant, with exquisite music.
Dates: Sunday, July 28-Sunday, August 18th
Meet in the Rizer Pavilion (in case of inclement weather meeting in Building 4 room 410)

**Stay after class for the Sunday Twilight Dances on August 4th and 18th to practice what you’ve learned! Family friendly and costumes are optional but oh so fun!
