|Recurring Event (See all)
Monthly on the same day until October 28, 2016,

Join Master Sergeant Martin J. Cervantez (USA Ret.), Workhouse Resident Artist, as he leads you in the creation of a collage of paper, color, and emotion. Whether you’re already an artist or haven’t made art since elementary school, you’ll have the opportunity to explore your creativity through the use of heavy paper, watercolor pencils, and basic art techniques, all while working under the direction of an accomplished artist and excellent teacher.

Every Fourth Friday SCAPE Night at the Workhouse Arts Center presents fun and experimental adventures in creativity and community. These events are free and open to the public; everyone is invited to be inspired, create, and build bonds of friendship and support. You’ll end the evening with a great new piece of artwork created by you, in addition to wonderful memories and a renewed spirit.

ABOUT THE INSTRUCTOR: Cervantez was a resident artist with the U.S. Army Center of Military History (USACMH). Cervantez joined the Army in 1986, and served in Iraq, Afghanistan and Haiti on multiple assignments including Desert Shield and Desert Storm, the Global War on Terrorism, Operation Enduring Freedom and Unified Response. During these deployments he produced artwork that visually recorded Soldiers’ experiences and the Army’s achievements. Master Sergeant Cervantez is a self-taught artist who has created art since he was a child.
