The Weight of Air: Hanna Vogel
On View August 8 – September 23, 2018
Artist Reception: September 8th, 6p-8p
The Weight of Air is an immersive exhibition exploring ideas of growth and tenacity. Hanna Vogel’s delicate installation works address body and self-image reflected in the space we inhabit through physical and spatial consideration. By openly unveiling environmental vulnerabilities, these objects call on the viewer to examine the entropic nature of their own human makeup and its relationship to its surroundings.
“I find this idea—that our bodies and our self-images are affected by the spaces we inhabit—taking on new meaning within the context of the Workhouse Arts Center. I hope that in providing physically immersive and perhaps escapist experiences, my work can provide a counterpoint to the site’s history of incarceration.” – Hanna Vogel
