First Anniversary Celebration of the Workhouse on September 19!

Bring your friends and family to help the Workhouse celebrate its one year anniversary!  It is hard to believe that only a year has passed since the Workhouse opened its doors to the public. Over the past year, we have enjoyed serving the DC metro area as a vibrant arts community featuring 100 artists in residence, art studios and galleries, arts education, live musical and theatrical performance, film festivals and fabulous events. In order to mark this exciting milestone, we are hosting a free concert on the Quad from 3 – 5pm. 

Come see the crystalline voice of L’Tanya Mari at the Workhouse Arts Center. L’Tanya Mari, known for her albums like A Teardrop of Sun, will serenade you with her most impressive choice of notes, her use of space and silence, and her intelligent way of improvising melodically.   Country-blues singer Holly Allen will also perform! Kids of all ages are invited to check out our FREE Kid Zone open house. There will be a drop-in group art project happening all-day, so please drop in and help us finish it!  Don’t forget to visit our face-painter, and you’ll be transformed into living artwork! Along with the Kid Zone open house, artist demos and Art of Movement classes will be available all day! Click here for a complete list of Workshops. To celebrate our 1st Anniversary, the Workhouse is offering a number of new and exciting Friend of the Workhouse Membership Levels. Visit the membership tent while you are onsite enjoying the festivities to learn more about becoming a Friend of the Workhouse! Please join us as we celebrate the past and kick off another exciting year of arts and entertainment!
