Building 5 Featured Artists: Judith Dougherty, Marni Maree and Trish Vermillions “Tri-Focus”: A Unique View of People, Nature, and Events. Artist Reception: November 14, 6-9PM, Building 5 Featured artists Judith Dougherty, Marni Maree and Trish Vermillion treat visitors to their unique views of life, people and the splendor of nature in bloom. Trish Vermillion presents various examples of the “windows of the soul” in portraits on porcelain focusing on eyes. Judith Dougherty has created an oil painting which chronicles a soul wrenching year of her life and Marni Maree depicts the soul of nature in bloom with vivid watercolor paintings. Building 9 Featured Artists: Lynn Goldstein and Judy Zatsick“Refrains of Nature” Artist Reception: November 14, 6-9PM, Building 9 Lynn Goldstein, The Pastel Journal magazine. Goldstein teaches drawing and pastels to adults in Fairfax County and the Mid-Atlantic region. Additionally, she has taught workshops at the Smithsonian National Portrait Gallery in Washington, D.C., where she also regularly volunteers her time as a docent. Goldstein is a member of the Pastel Society of America and a signature member of the Maryland Pastel Society. Judy Zatsick works in oil and mixed media. She uses scumbling and layers of color in her gestural work. Employing a loose figurative approach and dramatic color palette, she captures intimate scenes of nature. Zatsick says, "My goal is to capture the mood and rhythm of the landscape, and to impart that emotion to the viewer. I hope that the viewer can find the joy and passion that I do in the beauty around me." Judy’s work has appeared in juried exhibits both internationally and locally. Her work is held in private collections in Europe and in the States. She is a member of the Greater Reston Arts Center and The Center for Creative Arts in Fredericksburg, VA, where she has been awarded prizes for her work. Judy continues to study art at the Art League School and the Corcoran School of Art and Design. She works on commission and tutors children in art.
