Workhouse Film Institute: Women's Studies The Workhouse Film Institute will screen the independent film, Women's Studies, which plays to the horror and thriller genres. The film follows the story of a pregnant graduate student and her friends, who are held captive at a women's academy that's actually a cult of feminists bent on the enslavement of men. Rather than a typical "hack & slash" horror movie, it's an intelligent look at groupthink, women's issues and how blind belief in any one-sided dogma can create a terrorist. Starring in this film as Senator Gayle Hamlin is Judith O'Dea, best remembered for her role as Barbara in George A. Romero's 1968 horror film classic Night of the Living Dead. Her latest film appearances, in addition to Women's Studies, are in Jason Paul Collum's psychological thriller November Son and Timo Roses' Beast. Writer and director of Women's Studies, Lonnie Martin, will be on-hand to speak about the film prior to the screening. Martin has written over a dozen scripts for both stage and screen in West Virginia, DC, Chicago and Toronto. He has worked closely with several organizations including the Source Theater, Red Fox P Productions, Santa Fe Writer’s Project, More Than A Notch Productions and the critically acclaimed Little Globe Theater with Scot McKenzie and Helen Hayes Award nominee Kate Eastwood Norris.
