Come to Workhouse Arts Center for a spectacular day of arts and entertainment, as we honor the 100th year of the Occoquan Workhouse! The Workhouse has a history rich with significant and unforgettable milestones, as it has made the transition from former correctional facility, to thriving, one-of-a-kind arts community. The Lorton Arts Foundation has established the Workhouse as the region's most distinctive cultural arts center. Don't miss artist demonstrations on the Quad, a Kid Zone Open House and the chance to visit with more than 100 studio artists as they work in their studios. In addition, the Workhouse will present two very special musical performance from The Classical WETA Players and legendary musician, Chuck Brown! Come help us pay tribute to a rich past, while celebrating the exciting new presence that the Workhouse brings to the community! ABOUT THE CLASSICAL WETA PLAYERS The Classical WETA Players, a brass quintet of professional musicians, will perform from 1-4pm. These musicians provide free musical performances at venues across the Greater Washington area, bringing live classical music into the community. Throughout the year, The Classical WETA Players offer a sampling of the breadth of music that Classical WETA 90.9 FM listeners enjoy. ABOUT CHUCK BROWN Affectionately known as the Godfather of Go Go, Chuck Brown created the Go Go sound. He combined Latin beats, African call and response chants and American Jazz, throwing in a touch of soul with a continuous drumbeat. This nonstop dance music is and has been a trademark of original creative music from the nation's capital, Washington, DC, and has gained Chuck Brown worldwide fans!
