At the Workhouse, a spirited collaboration between Poet and Artist has evolved into Poetic Art!
Poetic Art, the heart and soul of the artistic experience presented as language and visual imagery. The opening reception on Sunday, September 19 from 2-4pm will feature readings of the exhibition poetry. As a special treat Grace Cavalieri, Eric Pankey and Kim Roberts, Poetic Art's 3 poetry jurors, will also read a selection of their works. Sponsored by EnviroSolutions, the Sgt. Scott Lange Kirkpatrick $1,000 High School Poet's Scholarship winner will also be announced during the reception. Please join us for a delightful afternoon of art and poetry. POETRY OPEN MIC with special guest host David "Granmadave" Schein. Reverent or raw, rhymed & metered or free verse, all poets, spoken word performers, professional and rookie alike, are invited to step up to the mic with your original poetry or slam. Scott Lange Kirkpatrick $1,000 Scholarship As part of the Poetic Art exhibition, all Fairfax and Prince William County High School 2009-2010 Juniors were invited to submit up to 3 original poems written in the last year. All submitted poems are eligible for consideration for the Sgt. Scott Lange Kirkpatrick $1,000 Scholarship, sponsored by EnviroSolutions, Inc. and will be displayed at the Workhouse in the Poetic Art exhibition. The winner and honorable mentions will be announced at the opening reception on September 19. Special Note for Saturday, October 2 The Workhouse is thrilled to present the Art, Wine and All That Jazz festival on October 2! Please note that because this is a gated event, access to the Workhouse campus will be limited and the Poetic Art exhibition will be available only to ticketed patrons. Art, Wine and All That Jazz will include all-day jazz performances, wine tastings, spectacular food, children's activities, artist demos, lectures on art and wine, a silent auction and more!
