Black Friday....not just for shopping! Escape to the Workhouse with friends and family for a spectacular day filled with fabulous artwork, tea tastings, unique gifts, food and live music throughout the day! There will be exclusive holiday gifts in all price ranges, created by more than 125 Workhouse artists available for purchase. An original piece of artwork can be the perfect gift for a friend or family member that has everything! From 5-7pm, Potomac Jazz Project will serenade guests with their catchy melodies in Gallery W-16. They have headlined or appeared at many of the area's best known music venues, including The Kennedy Center, The Corcoran Gallery of Art, The Smithsonian, The Phillips Collection, Twins Jazz, and Cafe Nema. They are regulars at jazz clubs Extra Virgin, Laporta's, The Ice House Cafe and Sala Thai. The band's repertoire ranges from the classic early jazz works (Duke Ellington, Billy Strayhorn, and Fats Waller), through the bop and cool eras (Charlie Parker, Dizzy Gillespie, and Miles Davis) up to more modern jazz (Herbie Hancock, Michael Brecker, Pat Metheny). And each song is approached with a freshness of arrangement and attitude that even the familiar is reinvented.
