Made possible by the Baryshnikov Arts Center and the Lorton Arts Foundation, A Traveling Show Installation will make its official World Premiere at the Workhouse December 5th through 7th. Together with five dancers, filmmaker Kevin Freeman, and photographer George Lange, Aszure Barton has orchestrated a body of work inspired by the inner lives (and theatrical past lives) of the performers. Drawing from her collaborators both as individuals and as family, this work was born from an intense seven-week residency at the Baryshnikov Arts Center. During this time, the Company developed work for stage, film, and photography. As a part of the process, the Company traveled to an intimate East Village Theater (Duo Theater) where its dark beauty provided a dreamlike environment for this magical dance journey. Aszure Barton & Artists is an organization dedicated to the growth of artists and the production of contemporary dance performance. Since its founding in 2002, the company has developed its activities as an international contemporary dance project with its current home base in New York City. Ms. Barton has earned the distinguished reputation of producing striking choreography, and, together with her intimate ensemble, she continues to develop critically acclaimed productions around the globe. Her works have recently toured to Australia, Europe, UK, Brazil, Argentina, Asia, Africa, Canada, and the United States. For more information about Aszure Barton & Artists visit http://www.aszureartists.com/. The December 5th performance of A Traveling Show Installation, being held on the second floor of Gallery W-16, will begin with a reception at 7PM followed by the performance at 7:30PM.
