Shenandoah University and the Lorton Arts Foundation (LAF) are partnering once again to bring remarkable talent from the Shenandoah Conservatory to the Washington, DC Metropolitan area. A four-part performing arts series, to be held at the Workhouse Arts Center in Lorton, VA, will feature gifted, pre-professional artists led by outstanding faculty from Shenandoah Conservatory. The series is underwritten by a generous gift from Charles (Chuck) and Beverly Veatch of Reston, VA. and from Shenandoah County, VA. Chuck Veatch is the chairman of Shenandoah University's board of trustees and the founder of Environmental Concepts Inc., a development and consulting firm for residential and commercial projects throughout Northern Virginia. The series will include theatre, dance and music and all performances are FREE and open to the public. The Shenandoah Dance Ensemble's program will feature three total theater masterpieces by dance legend Alwin Nikolais: MANTIS (1963), GIRLS TRIO (1965) and GROTTO (1973). The re-staging of these three works is made possible by American Masterpieces: Dance, a program of the National Endowment for the Arts, which is administered by the New England Foundation for the Arts with Dance/USA. Additional repertoire representing the choreography of Shenandoah Conservatory's outstanding dance faculty will also be presented. This event includes pre-concert and post-performance opportunities for audience interaction with dance professor Kim Gibilisco. Tickets are free but space is limited. Reserve your tickets online now!
