OPEN CALL- Military BRATS: Art About the Military Child Experience

No one knows where the term “military brat” exactly originated, but some believe it was an early 1920s reference to the British army’s use of the acronym, “BRAT” as the status of “British Regiment Attached Traveler”, a term applied to families who would travel with the soldier. The WMAI invites all children of active duty or retired service members, veterans and reservists (ages 5+) to submit a single artwork. Quick Draw 2019 Drawing Rally

Quick Draw is an exciting live art event that brings together dozens of artists working side by side under a one-hour time limit. As the clock ticks down, spectators are encouraged to watch and talk to the artists as their creative process unfolds. Drum Circle with Percussionist Tom Teasley

All Skill Levels, All Ages Instructor: Tom Teasley Internationally acclaimed percussionist, Tom Teasley, will lead an all skill, all ages drum circle. Tom is the 2016 World Percussionist of the Year by Drum! magazine, has won numerous Helen Hayes Awards and was the WAMA awardee for “World Music Instrumentalist” five years straight. Through the use of vocalizations and stepping participants will develop a greater rhythmic awareness. Tom will also demonstrate some basic drum technique development.
