360 Degrees of Post-Traumatic Stress

Event Date:
Saturday, June 22, 2013 to Sunday, August 18, 2013
Venue:
W-16 - Vulcan Gallery

Public Opening Reception: June 22, 2:30-4pm
Pop-Up Combat Paper Project Show: August 16, 7-10pm

This exhibition will combine works from soldiers who are in transition at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center and Fort Belvoir Community Hospital. 360 Degrees of Post-Traumatic Stress will feature sculptural works created by local patients and prints made by veterans from the Combat Paper Project collection.

The exhibition will close with a one night showing of prints on handmade paper made during a Combat Paper Project workshop. This will take place on August 16 from 7-10pm in the Vulcan Gallery, located within Building W-16.

Participate in the exhibit, “360 Degrees of Post Traumatic Stress”, by writing your own comments and responses on official Combat Paper for use in the gallery. Pin your responses to the wall in the gallery to share with the public. Questions such as “Do you feel understood?”, “How do you feel when you return home?”, What is the hardest thing you have had to overcome?” are applicable to both service members and civilians. The activity will facilitate a conversation between both.

Tweet your response to the exhibit @Workhouse_Arts. You can choose to thank a veteran, honor a victim, share your experience viewing the exhibit, or your experience with Post Traumatic Stress. Keep the conversation going with #360PTS on Twitter.
