Bio

Gloria Benedetto was a self taught artist until she retired from 26 years of teaching Special Education. She began taking classes at the Lorton Arts Foundation Workhouse in January of 2009. She has continued her education through the Academy of Realist Art, Toronto, the Workhouse and other national and local schools.

She is a juried studio artist in building 5, studio 510A of the Workhouse Arts Galleries.

One of her paintings was selected by juror for the 2013 Workhouse calendar.

She works in a variety of mediums: oils, acrylic, pen and ink, watercolor, pastels and photography. Her photographs were selected in both the First and Second Annual Juried Photographic Competition at the Workhouse at Lorton.
Her subjects include pets, portraits, landscape and still life.

Having been a military dependent, she's traveled all over the world; living in Morocco, Germany, several states in America and Okinawa. Gloria travels as much as possible, using photography to capture potential art subjects.

Her work will be shown on the 11th floor from May 18th to June 23, 2012 at Artomatic in Crystal City as well as in her studio Wednesday-Sunday at the Workhouse.
