Mary Ellen Mogee paints suggestive flat patterns of color incorporating acrylic and mixed media. The paintings are symbolic of an inner world, with color that expresses a feeling or mood. Mary Ellen began painting after a career as a policy analyst. She has studied with Jennifer Schoechle, Annandale, Virginia; Brenda Belfield, Reston; Kurt Schwarz, Leesburg, Virginia, and Erik Swanson, MPA/Corcoran. In addition, she has studied Religion and Art at Wesley Theological Seminary in Washington, DC. She was an original member of MAX 21, a juried group of artists in Reston, and a founding member of Artists-in-Motion (AIM), an artists' co-operative. She is a Studio Artist at the Workhouse Arts Center in Lorton, Virginia, in Studio 609.
