There are an infinite number of artistic directions you can go...using any number of subjects, media, techniques and styles. The challenge is choosing what makes you creative, comfortable and satisfied. It is useful to change what has made you satisfied because it was easy...to try what is maybe uncomfortable, at first, but makes you a better artist for exploring.
I loved to draw and paint as a kid, but took a long break, and got going again in the 1990's. After taking watercolor lessons from another Manassas, VA artist, I was hooked! I retired from the federal government after 28 years and now, as many of my artist friends will say, I have more time!
I was a member and treasurer of the Manassas Art Guild, then joined the ArtBeat Artist's Coop with a gallery in Old Town Manassas.
I enjoy transparency of watercolor on paper and the texture of acrylic on canvas and mostly self-taught. I always want to improve and often will participate in workshops, lessons and classes at various sites in Northern VA. I also have enjoyed giving watercolor demonstrations and lessons.
I have my own website at http://www.MikeFlynnArt.com.
