All creation needs a life and a voice to be shared with others. Whether that voice comes in the form of a small silver ring or bursting from a pen and pencil, it's expression of our innermost lives to share in ways that only artwork can and convey what words never could. Art allows truth to emerge in eloquent combinations of thought and form that speak to the creative in all of us. And so, to be an artist is to be one who brings a truth to form and offers it to be shared.
Wendy Anderson is a self-taught artist, perfecting this particular abstract art form all her life and only recently has made her work available to the public. She's taken it into schools where she inspired students in Okinawa Japan to create works of their own. She considers her organic style 'Meditation Art', which is how the pieces get their titles. By meditating on a concept, she draws the essence of that conceptual energy and delivers it to the canvas. When people would ask what the drawings were, she'd laughingly call them 'giant Rorschach tests. What you see in them will tell me something about you.'
In addition to her Meditation Art, she's become fascinated with negative space and the art of tessellation. She's recently begun to incorporate it into her artwork.
Wendy has been chosen for the AIDP Designers Choice Award for May 2010 representing the Associate Artists of the Workhouse.
