W-10: "Charcoal, ink Caricatures, and ball point pen City Scapes" by Grant Baudoin

Charcoal medium is a way to begin art, a way to immortalize subjects. Charcoal is unlike any medium he used to create art. Grant loves to draft images, which is why he loves charcoal. The Charcoal medium in its different forms and fashions is very versatile. Grant’s favorite way to use charcoal is by using vine charcoal sticks, finishing with charcoal pencil and getting the blackest blacks with ebony crayons. Vine charcoal is the most malleable medium, being able to be applied on a white page and then removed with a shammy is why he loves it so much.

Grant’s ability to convey the gray scale for gradients is also why he adores charcoal. Using his fingers and many different tools, which all have a purpose makes creating charcoal art fascinating for him. Drawing a portrait is a great way to showcase his charcoal talent. Please view these charcoal drawings he has collected over the years. Grant also has some stipplings and fun caricature type drawings created in ink and watercolor wash. Stippling is many tiny dots applied by hand that create an image. The color and the quote are printed and the image is stippled around that stuff on a juicy color background. Everything Grant creates is hand drawn and painted so please enjoy the show.
