The Workhouse Arts Center offers students an opportunity to gain experience in the work place while contributing to a thriving arts organization. The Workhouse provides fundamental skills, as well as specialized training is a variety of areas – development, education, facility management, marketing, and special events.

Be an integral part of the Workhouse Annual Fund fundraising program that consists of individual membership, corporate membership, and sponsorship. Get hands-on experience participating in stewardship and cultivation events, creating solicitation and stewardship materials, and assisting with benefit fulfillment.

Facilitate and promote the Workhouse’s diverse education programs. Contribute to the planning and implementation of our large summer camp program and the development of the fall class and workshop schedule.

Our Facilities internship offers an opportunity for students to gain experience as emerging professionals by playing a vital role in the Workhouse’s daily operations. The ideal candidate has technical skills and is interested in gaining hands-on experience maintaining a thriving arts center on an historic property.

Learn the ins and outs of marketing for a nonprofit arts organization in a diverse role that helps drive ticket sales and attendance, while assisting in promotions, events, and more. You will assist with the creation and implementation of advertising campaigns including grassroots outreach, direct mail pieces, email marketing and more.

With a permanent museum scheduled to open in August 2017, there are numerous substantial projects for interns. Participation will provide a unique opportunity for museum studies, museum education, history, design and criminal justice students to be involved directly in all aspects of the creation of a new 7,000 sq. ft. exhibition. Projects are in the areas of collections, curatorial work, education, and oral history.

Special Events & Rentals
Work behind the scenes with the Special Events team, assisting with the daily planning, logistics, coordination, and execution of the Workhouse’s major fundraising and community relations events that help raise a half-million dollars annually.

Join in on the excitement of hosting private events at the Workhouse’s many unique facilities, assisting with the daily functions of the Rentals program and coordinating weddings and corporate events from start to finish.
