Workhouse Military in the Arts Initiative (WMAI), in partnership with the Northern Virginia Regional Commission (NVRC) is proud to announce a call for entries to Arts for All: Diversity, Inclusion and Equity in the Military, an exhibition in support of the One Military, One Community (OMOC) Initiative to impact change in defense communities and help create a a better place for all service members and their families to call home. Smith has taken of abandoned places across the country he then transforms with layers of melted beeswax, resin, and other materials. Vertigo – Solo Exhibit by Mouna Benserradj

On View: February 12 - May 2 Workhouse Arts Center is proud to present Mouna Benserradj’s "Vertigo," an exhibition featuring impressionistic oil pastel illustrations. Benserradj’s mark making shows her study and practice of impressionistic techniques in her pastel drawings exemplified by the short, thick strokes of pastel and vivid contrasting colors. The strong colors and short marks in Benserradj’s drawings also create the sensational and emotional feeling of an intense vertigo- a condition where a person has the sensation of themselves or surrounding objects moving, even when they are not. Open Call for Art Lab Gallery

Workhouse Arts Center is pleased to invite under graduate and graduate-level artists to submit project proposals for an exhibition in the gallery, Art Lab. Exhibition proposals should reflect an expansion of the artist’s practice and can include work that will be created for the exhibition or work that is already complete. Open Call for Studio Artists

The Artist Program is a core part of the historic Workhouse Arts Center in the greater Washington DC area. The 80+ artists at Workhouse comprise several groups: Studio Artists, who sublease one of 60 studios on campus; Arches Gallery Artists, associate artists who pay pay a fee to exhibit and operate on campus; and Emerging Artists and Resident Artists, who sublease studios in special programs. Workhouse Military in the Arts Resident Artist Application

The Workhouse Military in the Arts Initiative (WMAI) Studio Artist Residency is a partially grant-funded studio space where Artists can utilize a unique workspace to create art, creatively grow within a community of artists, learn the business of art, and sell their artwork while gaining professional visibility. Open to any Military Veteran, Retired Veteran or Active Service Member who is interested in pursuing or perfecting their Studio Practice while working with the WMAI program.
