As the sun sets, the air fills with the sound of live music at Workhouse Arts Center. Head to the Rizer Pavilion where the U.S. Naval Band – The Commodores will light up the evening with their signature jazz and funk.
It’s the perfect backdrop for an evening stroll through our campus, where over 70 artists open their studio doors for a special night of connection, creativity, and conversation. Buildings W5 through W10 will host opening receptions for our newest Featured Artists, inviting you to experience their newest artwork and meet the makers behind the art.
Be sure to stop by the McGuire Woods Gallery (W16) to see MaNiiTo II'NiNiiWak – Creative Power People, a powerful exhibit honoring Indigenous artists and creative sovereignty. Featuring 98 artworks by 22 artists from eight Virginia tribes, this collection offers a deeply personal and cultural journey with an opening reception from 6–8 PM.
At W-16 you can get playful with our Prison Cat Round-Up Scavenger Hunt—a hit with kids and adults alike—or craft a charm that holds a memory at our Create & Sip workshop.
On the quad you can glaze and fire your own Raku pottery piece with ceramic artist David Newquist and take it home that night.
For everyone craving a deeper dive into history, our guided Historic Campus Walking Tour and EqualiTEA experience offer a unique chance to learn, sip, and reflect. And if you're up for a little competition, grab a putter and conquer 18 art-inspired holes at our Masterpiece Mini Golf course.
Whether you're discovering or shop local art, creating something new, or simply soaking up the summer vibes, there's no better way to spend a Saturday night.
Bring your friends, your family, or just your curiosity—and don’t forget to snap a photo by the iconic LOVE sign before you go.
Admission is FREE—come for the art, stay for the adventure!
