
Monthly Featured Artists
The Workhouse Arts Center has more than 70+ resident visual artists who occupy studios on campus, as well as a collective group of off-site artists who display their work in the Arches Gallery. Every month, in each building, the work of individual artists or a group of artists is featured in a special exhibition that runs for the entire month. During our Second Saturday art walks our featured artists (and many other studio artists!) are on campus to talk about their work and processes. And, if you love what you see, you can take it with you, as most art on campus is available for purchase!

Exhibit: 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea by Mia Klavon, July 12 - August 9, 2025
Calling all seafaring adventurers, pirates, and merfolk—20,000 Leagues Under the Sea by Mia Klavon dives into the surreal beauty of the ocean. Featuring fantastical sea creatures, majestic ships, and enchanting mermaids, this solo exhibit celebrates the magic of the deep through the lens of pop surrealism and fantasy.
Exhibit: European Travels by Terry Anstrom, Aug 3 - Sep 7, 2025
Journey through castles, cathedrals, and countryside in European Travels by Terry Anstrom. This exhibit captures the romance and rich heritage of destinations from the Moselle River to Prague and the rolling hills of Tuscany. With scenes of medieval towers, Renaissance churches, and historic cityscapes, Anstrom’s work invites viewers to experience Europe’s timeless beauty.
Exhibit: Te veo de VENTANILLA by Andy Gomez. August 9 - September 7, 2025
In “Te veo de VENTANILLA,” Peruvian-born artist Andy Gomez uses vivid, mixed-media works to reflect on personal experience, cultural heritage, and the many ways Peru is seen—and unseen.
W-8: “Earth to Table” Invitational Exhibit
A Feast for the Eyes – Earth to Table brings together thirteen ceramic artists in an invitational exhibit that reimagines the functional beauty of the dining table. On view from July 2 through August 31, 2025, this W-8 Gallery showcase features handcrafted tableware and vessels that blur the line between everyday utility and art.
W-7: “Animal Spirits” by Candi Durusu. July 1- July 31, 2025
In “Animal Spirits,” glass artist Candi Durusu explores the ancient symbolism of masks and the transformative power of glass, inviting viewers into a space where spirit and form collide.
W-9, Arches: “Myth to Reality” by Kate Brogdon. June 13 - August 8, 2025
In “Myth to Reality”, artist Kate Brogdon reimagines traditional portraiture through a mythic lens, blending fantastical imagery with everyday objects. This exhibit invites viewers to consider how perception, memory, and imagination shape our understanding of reality. Featuring dreamlike works inspired by redwoods, health rituals, and cultural fragments, the series offers new narratives that question what we choose to see and remember.
W-10: “Routes” Paintings by Fernando Osorio. June 11 - July 6, 2025
“Routes” by Fernando Osorio is a powerful collection of abstract works that explore the spiritual and expressive potential of form, color, and line. Drawing on archetypes, symbolism, and natural patterns, Osorio’s pieces—most created in 2016—form a visual language that connects the physical with the intangible. Rooted in global traditions and modern abstraction, Routes invites viewers on a journey through inner and universal terrains.

“Drawn to Travel” invites you into the sketchbooks of watercolor artist Marni Maree, showcasing painted and inked pages from her global journeys—and inviting you to add your own creativity to the experience.
W-7: “Light Transfixed” by David Barnes. June 1 - 30, 2025
W-10 presents Routes, a contemplative exhibition of abstract paintings by Fernando Osorio, on view June 11–July 6, 2025. Drawing from global visual traditions and spiritual insight, Osorio’s works treat line, color, and form as living elements in a personal language of meaning and mystery.
W-6: “Mixed State” by Claire R Lynch. June 4-27, 2025
In Mixed State, Claire R. Lynch presents a striking series of sculptures that give form to the emotional and psychological dualities of bipolar disorder. On view at W-6 from June 4–27, 2025, the work is as alluring as it is unsettling—twisting between chaos and control, beauty and imbalance.
W-5: “Menagerie” Group Show by building 5. May 7 - June 8, 2025
“Menagerie” is a vibrant group exhibition by Building 5 artists celebrating the wonder and symbolism of animals through diverse creative lenses. Join us for the opening reception on May 10 from 6–9 PM.
W-10: “My Favorite Things” by M. Jane Johnson. May 10 - June 12, 2025
In “My Favorite Things,” artist M. Jane Johnson shares a heartfelt selection of her most cherished paintings from past exhibitions, spanning her three signature styles.

In “May Flowers,” glass artist Sandi Martina captures spring’s vibrant bloom with colorful, sculptural works inspired by nature, on view throughout May in the W7 Glasshouse Gallery.
W-6: “Wanderjahr” by Joan Hutten. May 7 - June 8, 2025
Wanderjahr is a vibrant collection of fiber art by Joan Hutten, on view May 7–June 8, 2025, at Workhouse Arts Center in Lorton, VA. Featuring woven wall hangings and wearable pieces, the exhibit celebrates a year of experimentation and artistic curiosity.
W-8: “The Fun Room: Creatures and Fantasies” by Pamela Eisenmann. May 4 - August 6, 2025
Explore the whimsical and sculptural imagination of Pamela Eisenmann in The Fun Room: Creatures and Fantasies, on view May 4–31, 2025, at Workhouse Arts Center in Lorton, VA. Through clay, Eisenmann brings to life fantastical creatures and curious characterizations that reveal what animals might dream of when we’re not looking. "Wood Works" by Cameron Porter highlights the versatility and beauty of wood through innovative sculptures. Known for his multidisciplinary background, Porter combines sustainability and creativity, often upcycling reclaimed wood to craft dynamic, textured works. W-10: “Secret life of Grant Baudoin”- April 12 - May 9
Grant Baudoin’s "Secret Life" unveils the unseen creative journey behind his watercolor works. Through daily artistic discipline and personal growth, his paintings reflect a deep commitment to self-improvement and inspiration for future generations. Experience this powerful collection at Workhouse Arts Center in Lorton, VA, from April 12 – May 9, with an opening reception on April 12 from 6–9 PM.
W-9: “Tangled Up in Blues” by Laura Bruce - Double Month Feature. April 12 - May 10
Laura Bruce’s "Tangled Up in Blues" is more than an exhibition—it’s an immersive journey into the depth and rhythm of blue.
