Beyond Visible: Infrared Landscapes* invites viewers to experience familiar places through a spectrum of light that exists all around us but remains invisible to the human eye. Created with a camera specially modified to record infrared light, these photographs reveal a world where foliage glows with unexpected brilliance, skies deepen into dramatic shades, and ordinary landscapes are transformed into scenes that feel both dreamlike and strangely familiar. Rather than documenting the world exactly as we see it, these images explore the hidden beauty that lies just beyond the limits of human vision.

For me, infrared photography is more than a photographic technique—it is a reminder that reality is richer and more complex than our senses alone can perceive. By revealing an unseen dimension of the landscape, these photographs encourage viewers to pause, look more closely, and consider the possibility that there is always more to discover than first meets the eye. My hope is that this collection inspires both a sense of wonder and a renewed appreciation for the remarkable world that surrounds us every day.

Dean McIntyre has a BFA in Fine Arts Photography from Corcoran College of Arts and Design, George Washington University and an MA in English from George Mason University. He also has an MA in Telecommunications Information Systems with a specialization in Software Engineering from George Mason University.

He is interested in human perception and the way people see versus the way the camera sees things. He uses infrared photography, digital photography, and film to create his images.
