A New Feminist Comedy by Alli Hartley-Kong

Show Times:
Friday July 11 at 8pm
Saturday July 12 at 2pm and 8pm
Sunday July 13 at 2pm

Intermission approximately 90 minutes

While writing the sequel to her best-selling romance novel Consuela the Suffragist, Lily enrolls in an apartment swapping program to find a bigger apartment for her and Gordon, her long-distance fiancé, to live in and continue their respective writing careers. As Lily wonders if marriage will restrict her protagonist, she tries answering that question for herself as she meets three newly-single women, like the ghosts of relationships past. Meanwhile, her Bridgerton-esque novel begins playing out in her dreams. APARTMENT SWAP is a feminist comedy about what it means to be a woman making choices about independence and family in the 21st century.

In addition to winning the New Works Festival last year, the play has been developed at the Parsippany Playhouse in New Jersey and through the Baltimore Playwrights Festival. The playwright is a proud Dramatists Guild member and the founder of DMV Playwrights, an online writing collective for uplifting local artists that recently celebrated its first anniversary. In addition, her work has been shortlisted for many international playwriting competitions including the Henley Rose, the Blank/Future of Playwriting Prize, and the Bay Area Playwrights’ Festival.
