Bridge: Clay on the Wall

The Workhouse Arts Center is excited to announce the Call for Entries for Bridge: Clay on the Wall.

This is an open call for wall mounted ceramic artwork.
All levels of creators are welcome and encouraged to apply.

Bridge: Clay on the Wall is intended to celebrate the artwork that stretches the boundaries of tile and three dimensional concepts. While clay takes presence in many dimensions, functional, sculptural and decorative, it primarily gets represented in the artwork on pedestal or table. Decorative tile has its healthy representation as well.

Bridge will embrace the artworks which explore the edge of three-dimensionality, relief and or decoration. Those artworks that challenge conformity and commonly accepted imagery. Artworks which cross the bridge from pedestal to wall.

Juror: Lori Katz

Lori Katz is a studio artist working primarily in clay. She is known for the striking strength and simplicity of her work.

“I work primarily in clay, taking it beyond its traditional realm of function, creating pieces that are a visual and tactile exploration of the material, embracing and pushing its limitations and perceived fragility. I go to sleep each night thinking about what I will make the next morning; I wake up each day itching to get into the studio. I love what I do”

Lori’s work has been included in definitive shows and art fairs in the US, Europe and Asia. Her pieces are in the permanent collection of the US Embassy in Bandar Seri Begawan, the Wustum/Racine Art Museum, the IBM Corporation, Amazon Web Services, New York Presbyterian Hospital and in numerous homes and private collections worldwide.

Lori maintains a studio at the Torpedo Factory Art Center in Alexandria, VA.
