Calling All Volunteers

The Workhouse Arts Center relies on a strong team of dedicated volunteers to ensure our arts, education, history, and community programs run smoothly. Check out the list below for current opportunities and details, then fill out our form to apply. Please note that certain volunteer positions are based on a program schedule. 

  • Gallery Painter: Assist our curator with painting walls and pedestals. Must be able to lift 50lbs. 

  • Volunteer Artist Building Representative: Front desk greeter and receptionist at our artist buildings. Training required. Apply here to be a VABR!

  • Special events: Fireworks, Fall Festival, and more! 

  • Second Saturday: Help with event set-up and take-down, assist event managers. 

  • Performing Arts: Front and back of house assistance.  

  • The Haunt: Front and back of house, scare actors, and more! 

  • Lorton Prison Museum Docent: Share the history of Lorton/Occoquan Workhouse and Prison Facility with visitors. Training and minimum time commitment required. Apply now to be a docent.
