Joe Cammarata

With more than four decades of experience, Joseph Cammarata is a dual board-certified civil trial attorney, nationally known for his tenacity and perseverance in zealously representing clients in all stages of litigation. He served as President of the Trial Lawyers’ Association of Metropolitan Washington, D.C. (TLA-DC), and is past Chairman of the Traumatic Brain Injury Litigation Group of the American Association for Justice. Mr. Cammarata was named Trial Lawyer of the Year for 2025 by TLA-DC, and was selected as a 2026 Virginia Lawyers Hall of Fame Honoree by Virginia Lawyers Weekly. He is named one of the top 100 Super Lawyers in Washington, DC, and as one of the metropolitan area’s top attorneys by Washingtonian Magazine since 1997.

Mr. Cammarata’s dedication to justice extends well beyond the courtroom. Mr. Cammarata worked to reduce youth violence, better the criminal justice system, and to improve police practices. He worked with and led fundraisers for the American Red Cross; he founded the Brain Injury Association of D.C., Inc., a not-for-profit organization dedicated to assisting persons with brain injury and drafted legislation, which became law, to protect youth athletes from concussion. Mr. Cammarata is working legislatively to modify the medical malpractice cap on damages in Virginia. He was also a youth baseball coach in Fairfax County. He is an active member of the Local Access to Justice Committee and serves as a Conciliator in the Fairfax County Circuit Court’s Early Conciliation Program. Further, Mr. Cammarata is a member of the Board of Directors of the Fairfax Water Authority, Virginia’s largest water utility, serving over two million residents daily.

Mr. Cammarata is also a certified public accountant and holds a Masters of Law in Taxation.
