Show Dates: June 1 - June 30, 2025

Opening Reception: June 14, 6-9pm

Featured Exhibition: Light Transfixed
Medium: Kiln-Formed Fused & Cast Art Glass

In Light Transfixed, David Barnes invites viewers into a luminous world shaped by four decades of dedication to kiln-formed fused and cast art glass. With a mastery honed over 40 years, Barnes explores the transformative power of light and color, capturing fleeting moments of reflection, refraction, and radiance in sculptural form.

Trained in fine art at Syracuse University, Barnes has continued his education through hands-on instruction from nationally and internationally acclaimed glass artists, including Roger Thomas, Rudy Gritsch, Brock Craig, Avery Anderson, Milan Townsend, and Chad Holiday. His work is a synthesis of traditional techniques and contemporary experimentation, refined through study at The Studio of the Corning Museum of Glass and other esteemed programs.

Barnes' artistry has been recognized in numerous publications and broadcasts, including Loudoun Magazine, Elan, and Artscapes on Loudoun Cable Channel 3. He has exhibited widely throughout the Mid-Atlantic region, participating in juried shows with institutions such as the Workhouse Arts Center, Arts Council of Fairfax County, Greater Reston Arts Center, Touchstone Gallery (Washington, DC), Strathmore Hall (MD), and many others.

Through Light Transfixed, Barnes captures the delicate balance of fragility and strength inherent in glass, using light not only as a visual element but as a subject in itself. Each piece is an invitation to pause, observe, and become immersed in the quiet elegance of form illuminated.
