Art is joy; art is a song of joy residing in the heart of an artist. Katharine’s song is felt as a creative surge from deep within her heart, bursting forth, smashing through perceived personal limitations and received as a gracious gift from the Universe.

Lynn Goldstein shares her newest work:

At one time, I was focused on capturing a sense of place in my landscape paintings, I now find myself more interested in the painting process and the feelings that bubble to the surface while I am working. This change in emphasis is a result of my fascination with distressed frescoes in Italy, peeling paint on walls of buildings, and the textures that are found in the natural environment.

The exhibition showcases the artwork of the eleven Workhouse Ceramics instructors. Visitors will see a broad variety of of aesthetic sensibilities, forming techniques, and firing methods, and a glimpse of the potential that clay offers for personal expression.

Small Works are great for gifts. Building 10 artists are presenting reasonably-priced original art work to choose from, great for holiday gift giving.

Black is sophisticated and a classic used in clothing, decorations, and artwork while white is somewhat quieter and subdue; yet it is definitely brighter. But place these two together and they allow each other to take center stage. Designing glass beads with back and white are striking when placed near each other because of their high contrasts. However, when black and white are used as a background for red, yellow, blue or any color, they present a space for colors to pop and they grab our attention. Special effects are magnified when designing glass beads with black and white. There’s nothing quite like black and white glass.

Art created is a manifestation of skill, experience and spirit utilizing various mediums in creative ways to communicate between the artist and the viewer. The tapestry series was originally inspired by the Rajasthani tapestries of India. It has taken on added inspirations of flora and fauna and special materials. Crystals from the Czech Republic and Austria, recycled glass made into tiles from Turkey, ceramic microtiles from Morocco, murrini glass from Italy, findings and glass from China, along with glass made by small family owned businesses in the USA are used to create unique works symbolizing that we can all work together to create beauty.

When visiting the Workhouse, some see what was, the history of a place of incarceration, possible rehabilitation, cruelty, and abuse. Others see the potential, what can be, a place for exciting new experiences, creativity, and fun. In these paintings I have hope present a chance to experience the Workhouse as it is now.

This show is to demonstrate the diversity of Carol Mather interests in creating art and her love of nature.

Studio W-5's October show "Vases with Faces" features artist Kathy Stoner's colorful, whimsical folk art take on traditional florals.

Building 5 artists will display art work interpreting the title "End of Summer Blues”.

Sandra’s Featured Artist Show depicts a variety of life forms that exists in and around water. From the waterfowl flying above, to the marine life on the ocean’s floor, there’s abundant inspiration for the artist. Fanciful mermaids and the curvy tenacles of an octopus lure you to explore.

“My work is whimsical. I blow glass at my torch, I also work both soft and borosilicate. Lots of my pieces just show up whilst I am working....what fun. I am inspired by my flowers, our foxes, birds and butterflies, and our honey bees, and things funny.” Winn Jones

Marc attempts to capture moments of motion, emotion and change, and preserve them as snapshots in time. He has worked with dancers, aerialists, contortionists and other performers, translating their dynamic arts into a static image

I held classes at the Art League School for over 32 years, have led many national and international painting trips, most recently to the Extremadura region of Spain last March. I have been on the Workhouse Art Center's Faculty since it opened in 2008 and am currently teaching three adult classes a week here in building 6.

Mary Kane's recent work on canvas is done with the idea of minimalism and basic composition using more subtle colors. It's definitely a new vibe for her more gestural work.
