How do George Mason’s ideas connect to our modern democracy? How have Americans used their rights to express themselves?  Tune in at 12:30 p.m. for this 30-minute program on the third Wednesday of each month.  You’ll have a chance to engage with topics ranging from activism and protest to the right to healthcare, and discover how the roots of our current conversations were planted 250 years ago.  If you have questions for our speakers, please send them to historic@gunstonhall.org in advance of the program with the name of the speaker in the subject line of your email.

February History Bites: Rights of the Incarcerated with Katie Crooks

Katie Crooks is the Director of Museum and Visitor Experience at Workhouse. She leads both the Visual Arts and Visitor Experience teams, ensuring the Workhouse Arts Center provides a welcoming, engaging environment where visitors can connect with art, history, and creativity. She also serves as a steward of the site’s rich history, integrating its unique past into all aspects of programming and campus experiences.

With nearly 20 years of experience in the museum field, both in the U.S. and abroad, Katie brings a global perspective and deep expertise to her role. Her passion lies in connecting people to art and history, finding ways to align visitors’ interests with the Workhouse’s offerings to create meaningful and memorable experiences.
