Workhouse Arts Center Presents the Iconic Rock Opera Jesus Christ Superstar

Andrew Lloyd Webber and Tim Rice’s Legendary Musical Takes the Stage at Workhouse Arts Center May 10 – June 15, 2025

LORTON, VA (April 29, 2025) — The Workhouse Performing Arts Program is proud to present one of the most beloved musicals of all time, Jesus Christ Superstar, running from May 10 through June 15, 2025, at the Workhouse Arts Center’s W-3 Theatre in Lorton, Virginia.

This groundbreaking rock opera by Andrew Lloyd Webber (music) and Tim Rice (lyrics) is reimagined in a bold new production directed by Liz Colandene, with choreography by Jackie Madejski, music direction by Merissa Driscoll, and produced by Joseph Wallen

Set against the backdrop of first-century Judea, Jesus Christ Superstar explores the final days of Jesus of Nazareth through the deeply human and complex lens of Judas Iscariot. The musical offers a compelling retelling of events inspired by the Gospels of Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John, bringing raw emotion and timeless questions to life through a powerful fusion of rock music, lyrical storytelling, and dynamic stagecraft.

“This production promises to be both a celebration of the show's iconic legacy and a fresh interpretation for a new generation,” said Joseph Wallen, Director of Performing Arts.
