Workhouse Arts Center Unveils Masterpiece Mini-Golf:  A One-of-a-Kind Interactive Art & Mini Golf Experience

LORTON, VA (April 25, 2025) – The Workhouse Arts Center is excited to announce the official launch of Workhouse Masterpiece Mini-Golf, an imaginative new attraction that blends art history, interactive education, family competition, and creative fun. The first nine holes of the 18-hole course will open to the public on Saturday, May 10, 2025, as part of the Workhouse’s signature Second Saturday event series.

This bold, artist-designed course brings the world of fine art into playful focus. Each hole is a tribute to a legendary artist or movement, complete with interpretive signage that educates players about the artist and their work—turning every putt into a brushstroke of discovery. Participants will journey through the styles and stories of masters such as Claude Monet, Roy Lichtenstein, Piet Mondrian, Michelangelo, Banksy, Keith Haring, Frida Kahlo, and more.

Tim Grant, a Resident Artist at the Workhouse, led the creation of Masterpiece Mini-Golf. With a background in studio arts and art history and known locally for painting murals at Fairfax County RECenters, Grant saw the project as a perfect intersection of his passions.

“I’ve always believed art should be both immersive and accessible,” said Tim Grant. “This project gave us the chance to honor some of the greatest artists in history, while creating something that invites families, students, and the community to learn and play together. It’s education by way of joyful experience.”

Grant and his creative team of resident artists, designers, and builders spent months crafting each tribute hole with detailed artistry, innovative design, and a sense of wonder that spans generations.

“This is hands-down one of the most innovative projects we’ve ever launched at the Workhouse,” said Keith Gordon, President & CEO of the Workhouse Arts Center. “Masterpiece Mini-Golf is a perfect reflection of what the Workhouse is all about—creative exploration, community engagement, and accessible arts education for all ages. It’s smart, it’s fun, and it’s totally unique.”

The course is believed to be the only golf course in the country designed entirely by artists as a tribute to the Masters of Art History, complete with interpretive educational content for each hole. The second nine holes are scheduled to debut in June 2025, completing what will be one of the most unique and artful mini golf experiences in the nation.

Masterpiece Mini-Golf will be open during Second Saturdays and seasonally throughout the year. Visit www.workhousearts.org for updates on hours, pricing, and special group bookings.
